In Safari, whenever I click a link/bookmark/button there is always a split second lag where the program half freezes and then process with the request.

This doesn't happen in Firefox/Camino/Omniweb or any other browser I use. How can I fix this as Safari is my browser of choice and I would like to fix this lag?

I use Saft, Safari Speed and Safari Enhancer, so maybe there is a setting in there that set the lag off/can fix it.

I don't get that lag. In fact, Safari is the quickest browser I've seen in any platform, except perhaps Dillo. I wonder if these enhancers you are using can't be the cause? Try Safari in another account without anything else installed - the famous test account, if you don't like many accounts lying around you can delete it afterwards.
It might be some PPC plugin installed in Safari that is causing the slowdowns, in case you have migrated stuff from an older Mac.

Yeah it is something to do with the enhancers because I went into another account and there's no lag. =S I guess I'll have to hunt down the problem now.

    UPDATE

I found it is an issue with Saft. I have to find which option now, but at least I've narrowed it down. :)

    SOLUTION

Ok found the solution. It was that I had too many "saved" windows. When I close Safari it saves what I'm looking at so I can restore it in the future. This built up over time and is what was slowing down my browser. All I needed to do was clean it up and it's all nice and fast now. :)

safari is fast, firefox is slower in comparison and drains more memory.
