This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Every since I upgraded to 10.6.2 / changed my external FW800 drive from raid 1 to raid 0. The hard drive remains spinning after I shutdown the iMac. I contacted western digital and they said to contact apple, which I have not done (yet). Before I made the above changes (not sure which one exactly caused this problem) everything was fine, the external turned off when I shutdown, and turned on when powered on (now it does not, because I am forced to manually power the external off).
