    Firewire 400 vs. 800

    First of all, I wish that Macbooks would have firewire ports. Anyways, for the MBP firewire, it is 800 but an external HDD I want to buy is 400. Would it be compatible?

    uh, the 15" mbp only has firewire 400, but the 17" mbp has both a 400 and 800 firewire port.

    and also, the macbook does have firewire 400

    I believe just like USB 2.0 is backward compatible with USB 1.1, that firewire 800 is backward compatible with 400, pretty much everything these days are backward compatible with an eariler version of itself.

    Of course, but there are many companies out there that make adapters for that.
