While I have been extremely pleased with my Mac experience over the last couple of months, I have experiened a couple of minor issues.

This issue involves an occasional (maybe a couple of times a week) Finder restart and an associated loss of tabs in FireFox. I will be using my MacBook and I will notice my desktop icons dissappear for a few seconds then reapear (and I think this is Finder restarting). Everything appears to consinue ok except Firefox which shuts down and when I restart it it fails to restore the tabs I was using.

I was not sure if it was a Firefox issue or another application or even OS X but as an experiment I stopped using FireFox for a while and the resets stopped happening (so I'm assuming its something to do with FireFox).

Anyone else having this issue? If so did you find a solution (other than Safari)?

    Thanks!

Firefox 2.0 has been a disaster. Unstable and buggy to say the least. I would look into going with Camino or Safari until the bugs are better worked out. Make sure you have the newest version of FF before giving up on it though. Another thing to try is the repairing permissions trick. It seems to fix weird problems a lot of the time.

Funny. Firefox closed/restarted unexpectedly about 30 seconds ago.

Me too, firefox restarted as I switched to the tab I opened this thread in.

For me firefox 2.0 has been crashing a few times a day. I don't mind too much though because it gives me the option to reopen the previous session. I wish they'd fix the bugs though.

Firefox crashes at least once a day. If it wasn't for the session restore, I would stop using it.

I have been using a custom build of Firefox for Intel, and it haven't crashed once that I remember, you might give it a try - it is called BonEcho.

happens on my macs, and my pc with 2.0. It seems that when I go to a graphics rich page it's more likely to happen. For instance, not long ago apple updated their store. If I went anywhere near the store page firefox would crash and my network connection would corrupt, requiring a restart. But these events are rare.. still they happen more often then they used to with 1.0

I haven't seen Firefox 2 crash on my MacBook yet. I've got a CD, you have C2D looks like. Could that have anything to do with it? This whole 64 bit thing can be a nightmare for development...

It happened on my G4 also. Nothin runs in 64bit anyways, but it's an interesting theory. I do wonder what it is though, cause when it happens, it keeps on doing so. take phungy for example
