Went to best buy today and they finally had there Apple display crap set up, tried every single one of them, iMac, Macbook, Macbook Pro 15 and 17, and Macbook air.
Been wanting to try them but I did not know anyone who had one, and my local best buy was probably the last best buy in the country to finally get them.
I now really want a Macbook, was really impressed with how Leopard ran, I had tried Leopard on my PC but it works so much better on an Apple product.
Also was really impressed with the displays, best laptop displays in my opinion.

I love the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro displays, they're really bright! And I'm surprised that your Best Buy was so late!
-
If you refer to em as "crap" then why do you want one?
-
I don't think he was calling them crap. Why do people get so defensive?
The Best Buy I work at doesn't have Macs yet either. -
here's the funny thing though. the third best buy store that actually has the apple stuff on display is part of a mall that has the real apple store inside it. makes no sense at all. lol. -

if you are going to purchase in store, the Apple store is definitely the way to go, you will get so much more information from the people there, and an honest opinion, nobody there works on commision, and a large majority of the employees really know their stuff and are genuinly interested in helping people find a computer.

I agree. Over the years, I've had great luck with the people in the local store. Service has been outstanding, and on a couple of occasions, I have received brand new machines (an iPod included which was nine days out of warranty), over issues that arose. Not having to go through the warranty repair hassles was quite a relief.
Dealers of other brands may offer service equal to what I've experienced with Apple, but I haven't yet run into any.
And just so as not to be labeled a arrogant, know-it-all Mac Fanboy: I'm using a PC now with Linux Mint to type this post. The machine is a Velocity Micro desktop which is over four years old and still works fine - though it's no match for current machines. -
at apple, the first guy that i came into contact with was very helpful at answering all my questions. (most of the times i go in there, they wont talk to you unless you look like you are 40 years old and want to buy something, which is logical.) however i was in there like at 3 in the afternoon on a thursday when they weren't busy, and a very nice guy in his forties helped me. answered all my questions for about 5 mins. he figured i was genuinely interested and gave me a "let's shop together" card to make a shopping appointment.
my second trip there i was helped by a college guy who didn't quite have the passion for the macs as the first guy did, but was helpful none the less.
i guess my point is that they know their stuff. -

when you actually buy one, i would go to the apple store to do it.
its pretty cool buying a computer and actually getting it. it sounds obvious but, you know, people wait 1 month sometimes to get their dell or alienware built... its nice paying and receiving the same day. -
If you are going to buy a mac whatever you do don't get the macbook air

There's an Apple store 5 minutes from where I live. The first time I used a display computer (2003), I saw that it was $1099, it was pretty slow (constantly beachballing), then I couldn't install Opera, and I couldn't install Half-Life.

well, since half life doesn't run on the mac, i don't really know what to say to that.
you can run half life on a mac now... if you install windows!
go for safari or firefox for browsing, but if you really want to install opera, i wouldn't expect any problems today. -
Macs are good computers, but non-Macs are hundreds of dollars cheaper and can run games.
-
i guess i'm lucky cause i got mine at my local military exchange who are authorized apple sellers. not tax FTW.
Finally tried Macs
