I got the stock configuration 2.4GHz model from MacConnection today. I was originally planning on using student discount on top of the Black Friday deals but it wasn't possible. I did, however, drive 40 minutes to my nearest Apple Retail Store to check out the displays in person. They weren't as bad as reviews made out on the internet, and were certainly brighter than my 2 year old laptop's. I did notice that viewing angles were not as good (I brought in my old computer to compare side by side with the Macbook. Needless to day I attracted rather odd looks from holiday shoppers and store employees.)

They had it on sale for $200 off the retail price after rebates, plus VMWare Fusion, and a $70 Epson printer (there was a case, too, but I didn't like it.) Hopefully I don't get any issues with the rebates. Plus, I live in California, so no tax for me when I purchase from MacConnection.

I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Congrats chyidean! Welcome to the apple family, or welcome back, depending on if this is your first mac or not. :D

I am not your guinea pig

Lol, how about you get a mouse first, and tell me which ones work the best? I mean, I don't even have the Macbook yet, even though I think it shipped out. Anybody have any idea how long it would take for a Macbook to get shipped to California from MacConnection?

I enjoy the trackpad much more than a mouse actually.

Yeah, but lots of people have talked about a 3-5sec sort of idle time. I'll still probably get it and RMA a couple of times if the issue is there, and finally get a refund after two or three.

There's no such thing as a 3-5 sec idle time. The guy who posted that said "his brother told him that". So I'm kinda skeptical about that...

It's either BS or the unit is defective..

Do you have the white one or the black one? I'd get the white one for the style but I heard it gets dirty easily.

I have the black one. I wanted to get the white one because I also have an apple keyboard, but there weren't any in the store...

The Logitech VX Revolution is a great mouse, and I hear the VX Nano's pretty awesome too.

I was actually looking for a bluetooth mouse because a) it doesn't take up any of the paltry 2 USB ports and b) it's going to go into a form fitting waterfield suede laptop sleeve and no matter how small the USB receiver is it's still going to protrude.

I also got the VX Revolution for the desktop about a month ago and RMA'd the item twice before I finally gave up on it. Tracking was truly horrible on my white desk; talked with the representative and he agreed that it should do fine on my desk.

But thanks for the suggestions :)

Man that sucks... the VX revo is the best notebook mouse i've used on the surfaces i've encountered.
