I've copied files from a mac (OSX 10.4) that I want to work on in a windows machine, specifically .mov files that I'm going to edit in vegas9. I had no trouble mounting an ntfs drive in osx and copying the files to it; the problem is that under a windows environment all the .mov files are missing their file extensions! Even when I rename files to correct extensions, they will not play. I have full file permissions (777) and can do anything with the files except for make use of them.

.ds_store is also intact and copied. Help?

are you sure it actually copied the files.. and didn't just make aliases to them and your trying to use the aliases?

Yep, it copied 16gb of files. I have no idea why windows doesn't want to play them normally, any media player I try fails. So no, this isn't a 'lolnoob codecs' issue, I can normally play/open any format out there.

I seemed to have solved my particular issue, because while I can't open them to play them, I can convince vegas that they are indeed .mov files and edit them in the program without a problem.

I still want to know what went wrong for future reference though, and I sort of dread the thought of having to port the files back into osx if needed.
