I noticed that my fans go really loud when I switch over to Vista Ultimate on my macbook. Does anybody else have this problem? How can I set the speed onmy fans on vista?
I noticed that the fans go crazy loud mainly when I watch movies with windows media player and when I go to sites with alot of flash content like my hotmail account with banner ads on top.

I use vista for my class mainly but lately I'm getting really pissed at my wireless mighty mouse response time on the mac side. (But thats another issue which I can't find a solution to.)

Vista does heat up your computer more than OS X does, so I'd assume it's to keep it from heating up too much, and turning them off would be a bad idea.

Is there a program to control the fans for vista though?

just set SMC inside osx, and reboot.

you can at least control the idle fan speed that way.

I also have the rear of my MBP propped up about 1/2" on a jar lid or something.

Seems to help get air under the laptop.

I have the same problem but then on XP. Fans are very loud, even though there is hardly processor load.

I've checked the temperature: it's very cool, so the fans don't need to be that loud.

    Does anyone know a solution?

    TIA

Input Remapper doesn't seem to work on Penryn MBPs.

Input Remapper is the way to go! Due to some driver issues my MBP used to crashed almost everytime when I adjust screen brightness. Input Remapper resolved my problems.

    Yes! Seems to work well.

Have not been able yet to see how much control it gives over the fan but looks promising sofar.

    Also adds keyboardlight control.

Unfortunatly it also adds a disco light feature to the keyboard.

Occasionaly it starts flashing randomly :)

Edit: I uninstalled InputRemapper because it causes quite a CPU load.
I've now installed rightmark Rmclock, running at 1,2 Ghz and lower voltage.

So does this seem to be a problem specific to fan control in Vista instead of Vista actually making the macbook or MBP really hot?

I haven't put Vista on my MBP but I was thinking of doing it just for the hell of it.
