I have installed Xp in bootcamp and installed the driver , everything worked fine, but the area above the keyboard gets quite hot.

So i downloaded "Lubbo's MacBook Pro Fan Control" but when i extract the zip and click on the LubbosFanControl.exe i get an error in profile , how do i install , what am i doing wrong.

    Thanks.

i dont have an answer to your question but i have an alternative.

1st option: Windows always runs hot on the mac. The temp will rise from upper 60's to low 70's (we're talking in degrees Celsius here). Windows will increase the fan rotation speed and then bring it to the medium 60's.. When you play games, the fans will automatically crank up to 6k rpm.

2nd option: Install smc fan control on your mac os x. Regulate your fan speed in os x before restarting in windows.

You decide whichever you like the best

it is the area where CPU and GPU are, so it should be a bit hotter then other parts.

If you have the option to; I'd install Vista. I've found that Vista will ramp the fans up a lot sooner than XP and it seems to do a better job when playing games or doing anything thats demanding.

I only have the 13" macbook pro, but this solution works for me.

I'm not sure (not tried yet the Lubbo's Fan Control application), but from what I have read, you need to kill the KbdMgr.exe application before using this software. To kill it, just tap control+alt+delete and end this process. But doing it will stop your function on your keyboard from working (sound volume, screen light, ...)

Personally, I'm using vista and I also had some fan control problem and to solve this problem, I installed the new nForce driver for the motherboard. So maybe that could help you in xp.

nForce Driver for XP : http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_winxp_15.26.html

    P.S. Sorry for my english...

Gui_B, I installed the nforce drivers, but i still get the same error, I dont know why.

I also killed the KbdMgr.exe , but it still would not work.
