    Hi guys,

Can anyone advise me how I keep the MacBook awake when I close the lid as I have connected it to an external monitor and Keyboard.

    Is this doable?

Well, it will go to sleep when you close the lid.
However, if you have an external keyboard connected, it SHOULD wake up when you try to use that.

Yeah, you can keep the Mac awake with lid closed with InsomniaX.

Insomniax will not work with leopard, you have to go to the homepage and follow the instructions for the workaround.

I have my MBP connected to an apple cinema display and I can wake the computer up with either the bluetooth keyboard or wireless mouse.

First, if it is a bluetooth keyboard or mouse, make sure you have it set to allow bluetooth devices to wake the computer. Another option is to use the Front Row remote. Pressing menu will wake the computer.
