Today i finally convinced myself i need this baby so i thought share the happy news with you guys ;)
virtual beer on me all around , cheers :D :D

    My spec:
    2.66GHz Intel Core i7
    4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRM - 2x2GB
    500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200
    SuperDrive 8X DL
    MBP 15"HR Antiglare WS Display

Even though it says delivery 5-7 day the estimate delivery date is
    19 Maj, 2010 - 25 Maj, 2010

Its gonna be the longest wait ever  i feel like a baby waiting for Santa coming with present :D

I recently bought an Alienware M11x but after lots of trouble with it including repair i decided i want a unibody MBP. Nothing beat the quality of solid aluminum and once you get used to that its hard going back to plastic parts.
The crackling (<---not sure if right word) sound when lifting and moving the laptop was just unbearable considering how much i payed for the laptop so it will be returned this week while i wait for my new shiny MBP :D

And ofc i love OSX for its simplicity and the fact that all drivers are always kept up to date by the OS. This single reason is enough for me to love OSX more then anything else.

A few things that worry me with the new i7 is the heat problem and wlan dropout i read from different forums but these might be isolated cases. I guess time will tell.
It would be nice to hear your opinion on your new i7 still....

    congrats!

if (when) I pick mine up, I'll be going with the i5 for heat/battery life reasons.

    best of luck.

and you made the right selection by going with the matte screen. If I'm lyin', I'm flyin'.

Thanks ajreynol, i think it might not be such a bad idea to go for i5 for the reason you mention. I am still not so sure if i made the right decision myself going for i7 but since i dont use the cpu all to much beside the occational imovie editing it might survice the heat torture :)

I agree, the mate screen is just wonderful, I been looking forward to this update ever since the day i sold my old old MBP (with aluminum keyboard which i might add was the nicest model ever).

Will be a long wait but i will share my thoughts once i get it. Now i need to find my macro program so it refresh the order-status page every 5 sec :D my tum is getting numb hehe

Wouldn't that be a reason not to spend extra money on the i7?

Yes it would, but many of us consumers want "the best" and so go all out and get the highest speced system even if you will never use it to its fullest potential. I have done that myself. It's very much a psychological thing.

Oh and congrats to the OP by the way. If you aren't going to be using the CPU to its fullest you might as well run folding@home or run some programs for cancer/medical research. That would definitely then justify your decision beyond a doubt. ;)

You are so right :) it more like a psychological thing for me.

Now back to making me a time machine so i can jump forward to 25th of Maj :D

I do have a teeny bit of buyers remorse about the standard glare screen myself. Its the first notebook I have had with one and while it looks fantastic in low-light, any backlight is noticeable.

It's nothing I am going to return it for and its something I just learn to deal with, but I if I would have had the time I would have sprung for the anti-glare.

Congrats! Call me when you get to virtual tequila shots ;)

I pondered that for some time myself, but in the end I thought that the grey bezel of the matte screen is just ugly  so I settled for the beautiful glass pannel over the black bezel and will probably apply a matte film :)

congrats and hopefully everything works out. too bad i got the last year's model alrdy but if it were me i'd get the lowest config 15inch with highres and antiglare option, just to save a few bucks on extras and accessories. the new update, i just love it. but i also love any macbook pro. apple ftw!

Not sure if more pictures are needed at this point but i just wanted to say i finally got my toy and after 3 days of playing with it i'm extremely happy i changed from my M11x.

I also downloaded the Starcraft II beta and played a bit. I had the MBP on my lap at all time and it never got to hot. It played it just fine on high settings in Graphic options. It didnt last very long though. I would guess it played roughly 1,5h before it just died (in the middle of my game).

I checked the temperatures using iStat after playing the second time for about 1h and it showed around 56 for both GPU and CPU so no problem on that front neither.

One last thing is the Antiglare i like to say a few words about. My brother have the last gen MBP with the glossy screen and now when i compare them i'm so happy i went with AG. I just get so angry when i see my own reflection on the edges of his screen. The AG is just wonderful and touching on a subject that is very personal i want to say that even if the black boarders look nice on pictures i think the grey boarders on AG actually look more appealing to me since they blend in nicely with the rest of the laptop.

By the way i also tested Steam and run my old game i bought on PC (Torchlight) and played for a hour or so and it runs great. Steam is a bit buggy though. It crashed after 15 min browsing the games first time use :)

I have a desktop pc for more "heavy" gaming but when i do play on my MBP i prefer to play on OSX so its good to see more games making their way on OSX :D

Living in sweden there are no apple store (atleast where i live) but its always possible to return it within 14 days. All i need to do is to call them and ask for it.
So far i'm very very happy with mine so no return here :)
