I had a question about excel 08 for the mac. Im trying to enter data into excel but it keeps changing it. For example I want to write 0.5 but when i do it converts it into 1. But its weird as some columns i can type .5 and it works other columns i type .5 and it becomes 1. Also when i type like 3-26 instead of keeping it there it converts it into march 26 or 3-26-08 w/o me even typing that. Any idea how to fix that? Its really irritating just on a side note why does everything microsoft make not work? lol my office 08 crashes all the time my mac runs amazing the only problems it ever has is when i open a microsoft application. Im never going to back to pc i swear.

It's converting based on what the cell is defined as - so, for the .5 -> 1, it's been told to convert that cell to a whole number (round to 0 decimal points), and for the 3-26, it's been told to convert it to a mo/day/yr date. You can adjust whatever a cell is supposed to display by selecting the cell (or the whole row or column by clicking on that row # or column letter) and going to "Format Cell(s)..." and then picking what you want that cell, row, or column to be displaying. I don't have Excel '08 for Mac, but you should be able to right-click and access "Format Cell..." that way.

Yeah, select the cells you want changed, right click, go to Format Cells, select Numbers from the list on the left, and choose the number of decimal places you want on the right.
