I came across this article on Endgadget
I gave it a whirl and it works like a charm here in France using Orange.
    Here's the speed test results.

I had some trouble getting my iphone to connect via bluetooth to my mb, so this test was done via usb.
Will work out the bluetooth problem later, but for now its a nice backup for when no wi-fi is about.

NB: No hacking/jailbreaking is required, yet I'm not quite sure how legal it all is so if the mods find this topic out of order feel free to delete.

Rogers supports tethering, witch shocked me. :)

Wow works like a charm. And no more additional cost to enjoy services built into the Iphone in Canada. Is it just me or are we still getting screwed in Canada with the iPhone.

Just been reading some reports that this can stuff up visual voice mail. I don't have that option on my current plan so I can't check it out but just a heads up for anyone else wanting to try this out.

    ^^^^
Thats the whole point of this thread !!!
This is a work around that enables this on AT&T and pretty much every other carrier world wide, without having to go and buy and extra plan etc etc.

Could you say which Orange FR profile you used?

I've just tried both and it still directs me to that orange website when i try to set up tethering... :(

    Cheers

From memory I first tried the first one "Orange contract", didn't seem to work, so I then tried the MIB one. That seemed to do the trick, although I did reboot after the second but not the first which I think was the more important step.
