I just installed the most recent EFI firmware update from automatic software updates. Upon restarting when I tried to open parallels, the virtual machine was gone, and I had to create a new one.

Did anybody else experience this, or any other weird things after installing the EFI update?

Nope parallels is running fine for me. In fact I noticed my laptop is now performing noticeably better in office, scrolling between slides in powerpoint used to be a pain, it would be painfully slow, likewise switching views is also much faster, word is also much more responsive. I have yet to try out other programs but as I use office everyday, this increase in speed is sooooo nice!
It will make the wait for 08" easier now!
    a :)

Are you serious that the firmware update made all that difference?

I'm a bit reluctant to install it, after the superdrive firmware upgrade fiasco!!!

I ended up deleting the super drive firmware upgrade thing. I ran every time I restarted and always failed.

The EFI update had no issues on mine. I run bootcamp and haven't been in the windows side yet.

I think I'll wait a bit longer to see if any brave early adopters report any problems.

Now that Apple's priorities seem to have shifted from innovative/reliable/high performance hardware and software to silly electronic gadgets for yuppies, I've reason to be a bit skeptical.

I noticed quite a bit of speed up actually. Just thought it was odd that the virtual machine disappeared. It's not big deal really, cause I run it from the boot camp image so nothing was lost.

That a small upgrade should be able to bring about considerable increase in performance (as you guys say it did) attests only to the fact that the original firmware was defective, not that the upgrade is magical.

After the electronic gadget hype cools down a bit, maybe Apple will return to being a computer company.
