I can't seem to send a Keynote doc through G-mail. I attached the file hit send and nothing happens. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Also how does a windows person open it?

Directly through Gmail. How do they open it in keynote if they don't have the software.

Thanks I was able to export and send. Evidently powerpoint isn't as feature rich as keynote (big surprise), so It is not identical, any recommendations on what I can do in the future? I need to upload to a school file that doesn't support MAC.

If I got that, all I could do is make the presentation directly in pp avoiding any problems w/ missing info, is that correct? But if I need to do pp why would it be a waste?

    again, thanks for help.

I think its best in your case to stick with Microsoft Office for Mac. You won't have to bother with compatibility issues with Office for Windows.

To the OP: The real issue is not about compatibility between Powerpoint and Keynote, it's the fact that Keynote presentations are not exactly what they look like. If you right click or control click on the keynote presentation and hit "show package contents" you will see a truck load of PDF's. Keynote presentations are a bunch of PDF''s put together and standard online email like Yahoo and Gmail can't capture a Keynote presentation because it's actually capturing several PDF's under the hood and Yahoo and Gmail don't understand how to capture them all into one.

If you use a email client like Apple's Mail or Entourage and possibly Thunderbird (I never tried Thunderbird) they will automatically understand how to send Keynote Presentations. Just drag and drop or attach your Keynote and send it and PPT will read them just fine without conversion.

I don't know for sure if Gmail works in Apple's mail or Entourage under Tiger but I know it's supported in Leopard. You can also try out Thunderbird.

So if you wanted to email a Keynote presentation and not Export it to PowerPoint just Right-Click the Keynote file in OS X and select "Create Archive of...". That way your presentation will be a .ZIP file which is compatible with virtually every email service available. Also, both Windows and Mac should have zero problems opening .ZIP files.
