I've got a couple of doubt about downloading lion from the appstore and it would be great if some one could help me out.

    1. I have a slow connection of 300kbps. Is it possible to download Lion part by part or will it restart the download if the connection breaks?

    2. If i close the lid and the mbp goes to sleep will the download continue?

    Thanks in advance!

    1.) idk.

2.) No, the download will not continue.

I'd recommend you either go someplace that has access to fast, free wifi (coffee shop, library) OR leaving it on overnight.

You can also manually pause the download. I noticed that option was available by right-clicking on the Lion download icon in the dock. Whether or not it actually pauses the download and lets you resume is something I don't know as I didn't try that feature out.

You can also pause the download from the unfinished downloads tab in the AppStore. I just want to know if it will resume after a break.

you may want to go to an Apple store where you can connect to their wifi and download it very quickly since they keep local copies in many stores, or anywhere you can borrow a faster connection. If that fails.. if you know anyone who has it, they can make boot DVDs for you to use, or you can wait a month and get it directly on a USB stick for $69.

If i get a boot dvd, how does apple collect the payment from me? Or will it be free since someone already used their app store account to buy it.
Also if i use someone else app store account to download lion will i also need to sign into that account for updates?

Sorry if these questions are noobish.

I think each lion download comes with it's own receipt, as I did see one when it was in the process of downloading.

buy it... so its linked to your Apple Account, but just cancel the download, then use someone else's DVD.

One more question: If i use someone else' app store for downloading lion will i need that account itself for updates?

If not, one account could serve everyone right?

if you boot up off your recovery partition, it will ask you for your Apple ID... and not help you if you are not supposed to have Lion. I haven't seen anything on the initial install that would stop that though... no, but thats no different than in the past. You could buy 1 OSX 10.6 disc and install it on 10000 machines, and it wouldn't stop you... its just not legal to.
