On another note, that article kind of sucked for Gizmodo... -
lol. That was great!
-
+1 for it being funny.
-1 for using the "word" hella.
so you're at 0 -
Gizmodo?
DOING A NON-APPLE BIASED ARTICLE?!?!
C'mon into the nuclear shelter, It looks like the end of the world. -
Although..well, if you really think about it, no reasonable person would trust any marketing by any company. That's like saying a reasonable person would trust something a political candidate says at face value... ... ...
After all, when's the last time you made any decision for something worth hundreds of $ based upon an ad, or where you depended on an ad to become aware of the existence of such a product?
If people made an important decision solely based on an ad from Apple that they wouldn't have made otherwise without further research, they deserve to be ripped off. Caveat Emptor and all that. -
Good, Steve Jobs is an excellent speaker but he is a liar and a salesman. He says "you need this" and all the apple drones/clones nod their heads and say YES, YES WE NEED THAT. Then they go tell all of their friends why their mac is better - little do they know the comparably priced PC has two of whatever they needed in their Mac. Apple is an evil corporation, and though that guy is a tool for suing them over a marketing campaign, I'm glad not everyone eats up their ****, especially with their new aggressive (and effective) marketing tactics.

Apple in my eyes -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
^^ That is funnier.
-
Edit: Looking at it more closely, if you partake of the Apple, you will live forever??? I still don't get it really. -
It used to be rainbow before it was white and they went high gloss everywhere. You know, back when Macs were good. -
Sounds more like an ATT based problem.
The 3G network spec is supposed to be more than twice as fast as 1G networks. Doesn't sound like something Apple really has control over... -
-
-
Ah, the good ol' Apple IIe days....
Well on the bright side, no matter what Apple does these days, it can't be nearly as bad as the aesthetic monstrosity of the iBook -
-
No, are you familiar with the story of adam and eve?
The apple represents evil and temptation, and giving in to it. The comic is saying owning an apple product is giving in to evil... and we all know how the store of Adam and Eve ends... -
I see now, the obvious was totally oblivious to me this time. @ me. -
Wouldn't you rather brave what horrors may lay outside than be bound in a cage of ignorance in a false paradise like an animal in a zoo, no matter how pleasant that zoo is? -
I don't want to get into a religious debate, but that's certainly how I interpreted the comic because as I recall from the store, Adam and Eve were forbidden by God to touch the Apple. -
Besides, I prefer koolaid.
. -
y'all are looking Way into the picture
and i love kool-aid -
Koolaid is so obnoxious; always bursting through walls without fixing it. Really, wth is up with that? I'm surprised Koolaid isn't in prison by now.

So I came into this thread looking for some dirt and I find a comic and debate over Adam and Eve....weird.

Corporations by definition are and should be as dishonest as they can get away with! -
Of course all marketing departments will take liberties, but I would trust MS over Apple any day of the week...
-
Someone's been drinking a little too much of the Microsoft Kool-Aid. Theirs doesn't just stain your tongue, it stains your soul......BLACK! -
Nah, I'd rather just stand up for them. I admitted that they do wrong, but they're not anywhere near as bad as people make them out to be.
Apple is on the other hand much worse than they are made out to be. -
Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
MS only controls software. And even then you are given every opportunity to use whatever you want on your Windows PC. Apple on the other hand controls your software AND your hardware. And they love to exercise their control. Apple censors iPhone apps such as explained here (link below) and won't even let the app developers disclose why it was rejected because of NDAs.

Apple also likes to release firmware updates to their products preventing them from working properly with 3rd party apps. I am not sure all that censorship is worth the premium price tag. -

This is why companies have lawyers write their license agreements. It is why every Windows program you install has a multi-page license you have to agree to before you install the program. It's so companies don't have to deal with lawsuits like these.
If only apple put "Twice as fast for half the price.*" *Depends on a variety of factors such as network, location, ... when compared to a [insert overpriced phone here] they couldn't have been sued. -
or... vertu -
This just in. Corporations will go to extreme lengths to make their products look good in this silly attempt to make what are called "profits".
I have no problem with what apple did.
I have no problem with the guy suing Apple if he believed apple was extremely untruthful with product presentation and wanted to set an "injustice" right.
You can say the same about most car commercials, food commercials, or *insert most product here*
I would hope most people wouldn't go out and buy a car or even a new HDTV after seeing a few commercials on TV. No, the *smart* thing to do is spend time researching and maybe even find other people that already own the product and get their opinion on it. -
I'll agree with that statement as far as it goes (i.e. " if he believed...").
Still, how many of these plaintiffs actually 'believe' anything of the sort, and how many are just being targeted by lawyers with form pleadings who want to make a quick few mil in attorney fees from a settlement that wouldn't even benefit the class? I'd put my money on the latter. -
-
Up yours Steve Jobs! -
Wow after reading this thread makes me leary to buy a powerbook from Mac..Guess I need to do more research then.
-
FUD and nothing more!

I think we've reached the end of useful discussion. Frankly, I'm surprised this thread didn't explode.
