My F8 key does not stop or pause a song when it is playing in iTunes, regardless of whether I press the "fn" button.... anyone else having this problem?

make sure to check your keyboard settings to see if "use f1, f2, etc keys . . ." option is not checked, even with that turned on though, you should still be able to use that function using the "fn" key.

you might try testing the key with another shortcut, turn on spaces, for example and see if works correctly, it is possible that the hardware could have failed, but pretty unlikely.

    has it ever worked properly?

It should work...is it only the F8 button? And have you tried restarting the Mac and seeing if the F8 button responds then? If not, then it might be a hardware issue...

You can try out sizzling keys to give you more advanced control of iTunes with your keyboard... I've been using the free version and its great, really like that i don't have to switch to itunes to control track, vol, rating etc.
    a
    :)
ps spacebar will pause/play a song in itunes also.

It's funny how a lot of people with Macs don't restart their computers when they encounter an issue with the OS. If it was Windows, I think restarting the OS would be the immediate thing to do when something goes wrong...

That says a lot about OS X :)

Speaking of the new keyboard redesign, is it possible to buy a new MBP top part with the new keys? I love them new keys layout. :D

thats awful expensive for just a layout :) then again you get the super duper worthless multitouch :) haha

not worthless, but just not up to par for me.

f8 works fine for me. I do not have "use fn as standard function keys" checked.

I just picked up a Penryn Macbook and I was hoping to get multitouch. I wanted the pinch and the rotate features. But I certainly don't want digitizer issues that make it harder to do stuff like scroll so maybe I'm not so mad about not getting multitouch after all. |)

I would really really like to get this as well, I love the new layout on my thin Aluminum Apple keyboard, and would love my MacBook Pro keyboard to match. I think we will have to wait until we can find some people who have dropped their new Penryn macs and find an undamaged top section.
