I prefer to dock the taskbar on the left side; however, when I open applications there is always about 2mm of desktop showing where the screen is not opening completely maximized. It will do this on the right side if I move the dock to the right side. If I put the dock on the bottom it doesn't and the applications open completely maximized. Any idea how to fix this?

Fortunately , I use Better Touch Took and with a simple tap I can maximize the application, but still it'd be nice to not have to do that.

    Cheers!
