I am planning on putting iAlertU on my MacBook when I get it.

And I was wondering who uses it on here.

If so, how do you like it? And does it still launch Front Row with the remote?

I downloaded it for fun, but never use it. The only time I would ialertu is when I am away from the house. And I don't bring the remote with me when traveling.

Like MacSaber, t is more of a "wow" app. I wouldn't leave my notebook unattended.

If I am correct this is the one that is an alarm if somebody tries to take your lappy right? I don't leave my laptop by itself. It is far too big an investment to leave unattended in today's world. If I were to I think a Kensington lock might be a better detterant. People don't know that the iAlertU is there. Part of the value of a security system is to scare them before they ever pick it up. A Kensington can do that. Not to say it is full proof, but at least it makes it harder.

Well, a Kensington used together with iAlertu makes a lot of sense. A skilled thief can open a Kensington, given time; it must be a lot harder with an alarm going off.

Used together would be the ultimate. Even if they can get the lock off, they might have to touch the computer at some point during the process. Get the alarm going, they'll run.

I agree. My point was more along the lines of a choice for the theif. If you have something like a Kensington lock and the other unattended laptop a few rows down does not they will go for the one without the lock. Since iAlertU does not broadcast that it is there, there is no detterant. It would be similar to a car alarm. Is someone gonna taclkle them? Hopefully, but don't bet on it.
