    Ello everyone,

I've noticed that the new Mac Pros came silently with the new x64 Bootcamp drivers. Does anyone know if the new Macbook Pros will ship with them as well?

I plan on installing Vista Ultimate x64 to replace my current Vista x86. Figure the x64 will perform better and utilize all 4GB of RAM.

    Cheers!

No sadly Boot camp for the MBP still ships with 32 bit drivers.

However Apple have shipped 64 bit Boot camp drivers for the Mac Pro. You can download them using BitTorrent.

I have and they work superbly. I have Vista x64 installed on my MBP with all hardware supported. You'll need to download the Atheros network card driver and the latest nVidia driver in addition but that's it. All the Apple hardware works perfectly under x64.

It's a bit disappointing that Apple haven't officially put the x64 driver out yet.

Yep I know, I was sceptical. It was posted on a Mac Forum.

Amazingly when you look at the MacPro bootcamp disk there is a folder called Apple Boot Camp x64 and it has all the drivers for iSight, trackpad, keymapper bluetooth etc.

All that is missing is the wireless and network card. You also need to install the latest nVidia driver. I'm looking at the folder now on my MBP with Vista x64 installed. If I look at the device manager every piece of hardware is supported.

The Bootcamp x64 driver folder includes:

    Bluetooth
    iSight
    keyMapper
    MultiTouchTrackPad
    TrackPad
    Remote

All the x64 drivers that formerly couldn't be resolved on an x64 installation.

I'm not sure if I'm breaking a forum rule so I'll apologise now...

Hope this is ok, it's a link to the rapidshare download for x64 drivers for 64 bit installation of Vista on any Intel Mac.

    http://rapidshare.com/files/85474135/BootCampDrivers64.zip

Here's a link to someone who has installed the same drivers on their MacBook

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/indiecraig/2220143058/

Once you've downloaded the drivers goto the Apple folder and run Bootcampx64

Next download the Atheros x64 driver for your wireless and then nVidia graphics.

Finally I went to Intel and installed the latest Intel chipset drivers. There is a general purpose inf update utility available. I don't think is absolutely necessary to do the last stage.

i don't think its a problem, these are just drivers, which will likely eventually be released for free.

i think we can just consider these beta drivers and they should be legal to download.

What about the chipset drivers? How come Intel offers only "Intel Graphics Madia Acelerator driver for Windows Vista 64" ( HERE) and not old-fashioned chipset drivers? Do we even need chipset drivers?

Thanks everyone especially wrightc23 for posting them on rapidshare.

It's a shame Apple hasn't included them with the newly revised MBPs.

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro yesterday. Today without doing too much research I loaded up Vista Home Premium x64 in boot camp. So far everything works fine. Sound, video, network, trackpad, keyboard - haven't tried the webcam yet.
I just played a little HL2 in boot camp running in 64 bit mode. It seems to me like everything works. I didn't download anything extra, just tossed the
OSX disk in and then let windows and apple updates run.

Maybe the macbook pros they had in the Apple Store yesterday have everything you need for 64 bit.

so you installed Vista x64 just using the included Apple drivers, etc.?

others have been downloading the Mac Pro bootcamp drivers and using those, but that is great if the latest updates now include the proper drivers.

Also, wouldnt I obtain the correct video driver from nvidia or somehting like that? the MBP has a 8600 GT in it...why would I need to go to intel to get drivers for that?

Like I said. I downloaded nothing extra (used the disc that came with the MBP and then just the regular updates) and Vista 64 installed seamlessly. Everything worked.
So try just doing that first, don't bother with that extra rapidshare file. Worked for me. Maybe the Palo Alto store had a newer batch.

Question to anyone running Vista X64 in BootCamp and virtually under VMWare Fusion:

Do you have to reactivate Vista x64 every time you switch between BootCamp mode and virtual mode (Fusion)? Currently only Fusion supports an x64 bit Windows (not Parallels) and from their forums the reactivation “thingy” seems to be an issue sometimes.
Can anyone confirm this? Has anyone tested an activated Vista x64 under Fusion?

When I did mine, I activated Vista (32-bit) when I was running it solely through Boot Camp first. Then, when I attempted to start Vista virtually, I had to activate again, but this time call up Microsoft to let them know I was running it virtually. They'll understand immediately and give you some long code to enter to get it activated virtually. Once that's done you can switch between the two methods without having to reactivate everytime.

In Vista 32 bit double activation is OK, you activate in BootCamp and virtually. After that no more activation prompts. But it doesn't seem to work with Vista 64 bit, it will ask for activation every time you switch between BootCamp and Vista in Fusion.

Once again, has anyone tested an activated Vista x64 under Fusion and BootCamp?
