    Hey guys,
I installed Vista on my MBP and then I did some 3dmark06 benchmarking. Am I putting my computer at risk? Do the fans run while in Vista or do I have to use a special program to turn the fans on? Thanks.

Windows will control the fans, not always particularly well.

Many people get the smcFanControl or whatnot and set their fans to max in OSX. Then when they boot into windows the fans keep running at max.

Oh, I see. So Vista takes over the fan control? Do I have any control over the fans while I am running Vista? I mean...does Vista have any settings that will adjust the fan controls while in Vista?

I've never heard anyone mention if they controlled the fans from within Windows.

I suppose you could try using SpeedFan.

I'm not sure any Windows programs have the right coding to access apple hardware, that is why I assume most people set the fan speed in OSX and then boot into windows.

I'm not sure if the same applies to Windows Vista but the fans are definitely being controlled in Windows XP.

Whenever I play a game the fans ALWAYS spin up to the highest speeds.
