Simple question, do Macbooks and Macbook Pro's have the cpu-whining noise?

No i haven't heard that about the new MBPs. I have not experienced that in my own unit.

I recall complaints about this with the original Core Duo MBP's, but haven't heard much about it with the current Santa Rosa MBP's.

I recall it being a common "fix" to the problem for people to run the PhotoBooth app in the background at all times (with the CPU whine apparently having something to do with the CPU switching modes or something).

    Well the situation is this:

    I've got a Dell Vostro 1500 with cpu-whine, and a grainy screen.

If it wont be fixed, which it might, I probably will sell it and get something from Apple's production line.
The cpu-whine is terribly annoying, that's why I'm asking.

No reports of grainy screens or cpu whine that i know of on the new MBPs. Can you just exchange your Vostro for a new one?

my mb is completely silent for the most of the time.. it's only when installing stuff or listening to cd in which case the cd drive is quite noisy! the screen is spot on too no dead pixels or grainyness (is that word?!) anywhere.

I have the new 2.4GHz MBP and it does not have the CPU whine, thank god.

I had 3 HP dv6000t series notebooks all of which had the whining noise.
