I was just reading the sticky thread for installing windows on the mac and found the boot camp assistant in my OSX and it partitioned the HD and ask for the windows disk ! does this mean I don't need fusion 2.0 ?

the thread dose not mention VMware fusion, in installing widows

VMWare Fusion is used to run Windows in a virtual machine from within OSX.

Boot Camp allows you to boot your Mac directly into Windows. Boot Camp is asking for your Windows disk because how else are you going to install Windows?

VMware Fursion is only used if you want to run windows without exiting OSX. You could load up a "Virtual Machine" in a browser like window that is actually Windows. Boot camp lets you pick which operating system you would like to run when you start up your computer.

Simple terms, no VMware Fusion is not needed to install windows.

OK let me see if I got this right I need fusion to run windows with OSX in the background sort of , correct

boot camp will let me install windows in a partition and I would have to reboot to work with either OS windows or OSX , then I don't need fusion, correct

can I use one windows OS Lic. on the same computer like running windows + OSX with fusion and then partitioning the HD and running windows with boot camp as another boot-up 1 license

1 - Yes Fusion will let you load up OSX let you normally would then from there open a window that basically shows you a Virtual Windows PC.

2 - Correct, once the partition is installed then when turning on your PC you can pick to load uo into OSX or Windows.

3 - I do not use VMware Fusion but I believe once you install a Windows partition with boot camp the VMware Fusion just runs off of that, but yes you only need one copy/license of windows.

    http://www.vmware.com/products/fusion/overview.html

Go there and just take a look at some of the pictures on the homepage and other pages.

Fusion lets you open a window that looks just like a Windows desktop, and you can do anything from your windows standpoint from there. Just remember running Fusion means you split your systems resources between OSX and Vista, so with only 2GB RAM it might be a little slow.

Hi, Thanks for the HELP, I don't think I would like it if i'm going to have some slowdowns, I think i'll just sell the fusion software and go with a partition and just reboot to the OS of my choice, one more question just for knowledge wise if I used fusion would I need a anti virus software and if so do I just use a windows norton with the fusion or would I need a mac version for the virtual running

You will need anti-virus software with both VMFusion, and Bootcamp. Norton for windows will work just fine, you do not need a Mac version.

    No problem!

I'm assuming The OSx has some built in drivers in the software for it to work the way it does, the keypad that is , if so maybe someone will have some work around for it later :D

    Thanks All

    KEEP VMware FUSION!!!

Seriously I have a lesser powerful MacBook than you do and VMware + OS X running at once is FLAWLESS come on!

Once you boot from the windows partition in VMware Fusion press Virtual Machine>Install VMware Tools
That should help with a lot of stuff

I installed fusion yesterday and it seams to be pretty good, it's kinda weird how it holds your last boot-up and starts up again where you left off
