I have a 17" MBP and I am wondering if there is a way to tighten the hinges that the dispay is on, seems too loose for my liking.

No, that's they way the 17" has been since 2003. I'm not certain why Apple makes the 17" hinge loose cause the 15" is very stiff but that's the way it is.

that is the most annoying thing about these computers too me, without question, just picking up the computer and holding it at a small angle can cause the display to "flop" down, which can be very annoying. would be interesting to see if they can be tightened or if they will ever be "fixed"
