    hello,

    so i decided to verify my USB External Harddrive using disk utility.

    during the verifying phase, the disk utilty stops and says that there is something wrong with the volume and cannot continue.

    so after thats done, i click "repair volume" during the checking, it founds and error "Volume Header needs minor repair". it repairs the problem and eventually it ends up with "1 volume passed verification".

    what is this?

    what could have caused this?
    anyone else ever got this? -how?

    is this means that there is something corrupt with the drive data?
    after i click repair; would everything be all right again?

    i found something on the net which i found interesting;

    ref: http://www.mactipsandtricks.com/articles/ORmm_appb2.lasso

    Update: Apple's explanation?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2355
    then it goes with:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2028

    could journaling actually caused the error?

    The 1 volume passed verification just means that you have 1 HD that isn't faulty (i.e. passed the test).

    A fault with the volume header could have been caused by a number of things, but are usually easily repairable and won't result in data loss even if it's not repairable (unless you format the drive or something).

    hi budding.

    yeah, it says;

    volume header needs minor repair
    repairing
    verifying

    then when it finished it says something like

    error repaired
    1 volume passed verification.
