    Greetings,

First time posting. I'm planning to buy an MBP 15. This will be my first Mac.

I found a good deal (at least I think it's a good deal) at a local store for a brand new MC723LL/A for $1,500 (before taxes - $1,650 with taxes). The refreshed model, MD318LL/A, goes for $1,700 (no taxes on Amazon).

Other than MC723LL/A coming with SL instead of Lion, 750GB drive vs 500GB drive, and 1GB of video memory vs 512MB of video memory, are they are any other differences that I should be aware of?

    Thanks,

    ten

I recently bought the 723 and it came with Lion pre-installed so there is a good chance the one you get will be the same way, especially if it's brand new. It also had the 750 GB hard drive.

The only other difference, aside from the amount of video RAM, is that the CPU in the newer model has a slightly higher "boost" speed. The Core i7 can automatically increase its clock speed depending on application/load. I believe the newer MBP's boosted frequency is 100 MHz higher than the older model. For my money, I'd rather have the older version's 1 GB frame buffer.
