So I'm looking at buying a 4 gb ram kit for my new MBP. But I am seeing that DDR3 is more expensive.

    I did fine this :
    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=35275&vpn=CM3X2GSD1066&manufacture=CORSAIR

    and this:
    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=34252&vpn=A3N1066-2G&manufacture=Buffalo

The only problem is that the buffalo is double the price. So I am wondering what the difference is? and if there is any correlation between the price and the performance?? Would I be ok getting the cheaper ones?

The Buffalo Ram looks like its Certified by Apple and probably guaranteed to work where as the Corsair is likely hit or miss.

    what about performance wise??

I know the Corsair will work...I bought non-certified apple ram for my previous MBP and it worked fine.

There's actually been a couple of incidences with MacBooks (not sure about the Pros) being unstable after installing 4GB of RAM. Crashes and freezes were frequent. There are multiple threads on Apple's Support forums that talk about the issue.

I'm not sure if it's been addressed yet. It may or may not have been fixed with the EFI update, but then again, I'm a total OS X newbie and have no idea if that update even affects RAM. There's also the 10.5.6 update.

Performance-wise, I would go with Corsair because not only are they cheaper, they are also a good brand ( I know nothing of buffalo so to those of you that do, please excuse my ignorance ) and the actual difference between the to set will be unnoticeable ( except for in benchmarks ) in real world application.

Yeah I did here about the RAM problem after upgrading these new MBPs with aftermarket RAM.

I think I'll just wait for a few weeks, see if anything pops up.
