What's the difference between these two? (Let's assume that I will configure both exactly the same.)

Are the casings made out of different material? It seems as if the White Macbook is made out of glossy material, while the black one is less glossy. Anyone have any ideas on this?

    Thanks in advance.

    Exact same. different material.

The black is matte, not glossy at all. thus, looks like crap imho.

Thank you for writing "imho". Honestly, it's when people say things like that, and not write "imho" that bugs me to no end. x)

I, personally, love my Black Macbook. :D

I have a whitebook, but the last few weeks I've been noticing the Air and the Pro more and more. And I've only had the thing 2 short months. It's got all the hard drive space I need. It's got all the speed I need and all the RAM. At this point, I'm starting to wonder if the backlit keyboard and lighter weight of the Air might suit me better even if it is a little slower. One thing, I couldn't keep my entire iphoto file on the Air. With my iphoto file, I've got about 70 gig of stuff and I wouldn't bother buying a machine that would leave me with a mere 10 gig of free space.

I had a black Dell and I was just plain sick of it. Heavy and hot. I like my whitebook, but I would probably like the blackbook just as much. At the time, I couldn't justify $200 more just for a slightly larger hard drive.

He's probably storing his photos in RAW format. Either that, or he simply has a hell of a lot of photos.

I saw the white & black MacBook in apple store ..... I liked the white one more... So purchased the white one.

The black looks nice too.... But I already have a black vaio.....and the diff in cost for getting black color and 90 gigs extra space didn't make sense to me. I saved 200 bucks & spent 160 out of it to get a WD passport 320 gigs ...... Hehehe

Sorry I was away for a while and didn't see your question. A full restore or "brain transplant" via firewere to a new mac would move 70+ gig of stuff. My iphoto library is currently 43 gig.

Using Show Package Contents, I examined what's in there. The originals folder in my iphoto library is 26 gig. The data folder is 17gig. I've been busy modifying photos. Of the 26 gig, I suspect that 1/4 and as much as 1/2 of it are digicam movies. Grand Perspective confirmed my suspicions that at least 1/4 of my pictures are digicam movies. There are 12,000 pictures ranging from vga to 7 mega-pixels. The dates range from 1941 (obviously scanned) to present. I have GP set to filter on pictures and movies in my pictures folder which pretty much only contains the iphoto package. The large tiles are movies. The small ones are jpgs.

I have a white MacBook but my friend has the back one, at first I was really jealous because I could only afford the white one, but the back like others said above isn't glossy, it's matte and every single stain, dust or fingerprints is showing.
I'm a strong believer that you should decide only on the cosmetic look, but they can look easily dirty.

I do like how the black lid contrasts better with the glowing Apple logo on the back, but yeah, for the price, I don't know. I do think a black anodized aluminum MBP would be the best though .

When I first decided to buy an Apple laptop, I wanted to get a MBP, however, I didn't (and still don't) particularly like the aluminum MBP.

Sure, it's nice, but I just didn't like it that much. I opted for the Black Macbook. If they had a black anodized aluminum MBP, I would have gotten that. x)

I personally like the Blackbook. It has more aesthetic appeal to me, but the shiny white Macbook also looks good, but the matte does it for me.
