    I never click on a pop-up.

Im suspecting it to be local. The CLEAR modem and router are in the same room. Must've been local.

No, at home. I doubt anyone in my college would know the difference between firefox and chrome, rather than hack a mac.

I don't think it was your Mac that was hacked.

That's the worrisome part, though. Unless the hacker was driving around in a car trying to pickup as many wifi signals as possible, someone around you was able to hack your router and change its DNS settings. I would pay more attention to your client list, activity, etc from now on. Good luck!

Some people leave their router exposed to anyone who can get a signal. If you leave the default settings the IP address to access the settings and passwords are easily found online. All the hacker would need to do is access your open wireless, go into the settings and change whatever they want.

Yeah, this is sooo true. I was staying at a hotel where the wi-fi didn't really reach me, but there was an open network from the neighborhood next door. So for some reason, I logged into the router settings and set a password. Poor owner of the router, we moved rooms and I didn't have a chance to take the password off :)

IDK? I've just never changed it, and never needed to. It doesn't bother me, obviously, as much as it would you.
