11 days ago I bought the entry level 15" MBP ($1699.99) at Best Buy and I really like it. Do you think I should exchange it for the $1999.99 version (one with the slightly faster processor, larger hard drive, and better videocard), even though I'm not a computer gamer (planning on getting a Xbox 360) and that I have no use for applications that require intensive graphics? or I'm I better using the extra $300 for buying Windows 7 (I have some programs that require Windows), and a larger hard drive?

You have a lot more mac than I do, and mine runs everything smooth as silk. I think you did well.

The 8600GT is faster than the 9400. That said though if you are not gaming you wont notice much difference.

no need to buy one. w7 will run as smooth as silk on your laptop plus it will run much cooler due to the weaker gpu.

I'll add vote #3 for that recommendation (W7RC is perfect on mine for 5 months now).

You can always undervolt the cpu in W7 using RMClock to further reduce heat generation and improve battery life.

if you don't need gaming graphics... the processor difference wont be much of a difference at all under most things... and you can always buy a larger hard drive and stick it in your current Mac.... I see no reason to buy the higher end model.

Also, try not to spent $300 for Win7 if at all possible... buncha deals out there, including $30 upgrade versions for educational discount.

That is a college student-only MS promotion which cross checks your college email address to confirm eligibility... the offer expires on launch day.
