Specifically, I'm talking about the 12" laptops here. They both look very awesome, but the PB outperforms the IBook in terms of specs. However, I'm still leaning towards the IBook for price and battery life. Are there any other design or bonuses that are associated w/ the PB?
Thanks in advance ;-)
I'd use the laptop for
programming
occasional dvd
web stuff
office stuff
some basic photo stuff
no games

For the tasks that you have listed, the 12" iBook is more than sufficient. I, too, am considering the purchase of an iBook, but I wish it had a better graphics card/more video memory. Nothing special (read: Radeon9700), mind you, since I wouldn't play any UT2k4 type games on it. But then there is the PBook with it's FX5200go - talk about a heaping pile!
As for the differences between the two computers, there are several beyond the G4 clock speed:
-PB has faster system bus
-PB is smaller than the iBook (but only by a little).
-iBook generally doesn't have the heat problems that the PB has.
-ATI Radeon 9200 @ 32mb vs nVidia FX5200go @ 64mb (anyone have an opinion on the differences between the two cards, besides the increased memory? Does anyone think that the fx5200 is a great card in any way?)
-PB uses pc2700 memory vs pc2100
