So, I'm going to switch over to a mac sometime soon. I currently own a Dell XPS that I plan on returning. My hopes are to get a Mac device. Since I'm going to mainly use it for school, which one should I get? I'm thinking about getting a Macbook Air seeing as it's smaller than the others and would be easier to carry around. I do have a few questions about the gaming capabilities though, would it be able to play games like Minecraft, Runescape, or Diablo 3? We have a Desktop, but it would be nice if I could continue playing games efficiently on a laptop. Those are the main games I play, along with browsing the internet. I guess what I'm really asking is how does the performance compare between the macbook air and a macbook pro. I'm also curious about it's audio-recording capabilites. I have two inline microphone headphones, the apple earphones and my Skullcandy headphones. Would I be able to record audio with it and hear the sound from the OS at the same time?

Oh, my budget would probably be around $1,500 - $2,000.

1, the Air games the same as any ultrabook with ULV CPU and the intel integrated GPU. no D3 will not work without stripping most settings to minimum.
2: the 13" MBP games the same as its equivelent CPU/ intel4000 GPU counterparts., the 15" with the 650m again games like a 650m

as per the audio question, the Macs use a single port for in/out. if you want a mic in and headphones out you need an adaptor or USB soundcard.

I'd definitely recommend the Macbook Air for you.
All of the games aside from Diablo 3 it should play without much of a hassle.
You might have to tweak some setting to get the FPS you want in Diablo 3 though.

it basically just depends on what type of performance you expect in 3d games, particularly for Diablo.
