    Macbook Pro 13"

    I found a 6mo old MBP w/these specs...

    It was purchased in September.
    It has:
2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo 2
    4 Gb Ram
    250 Gb Hd

No apple care. I can buy for $900 tomorrow if I want. Is this a good deal? I've also found some others that have a little bit of software already installed, and a some that are only 1-3mo old for 1k-1100. Should I spend the extra 100 and get something with additional software....or buy this one if its in perfect condition like described?

This one here 13 in Macbook Pro Early 2010 Model
    Info:
Macbook Pro 13 inch in absolutely pristine condition. No scratches, no grease, no smudges, as new as it was out of the box. 2.4 ghz core 2 duo processor, 4 gb of ram, 250gb hard drive, battery has only 41 cycles on it, and has 99% of original charge capacity. Mac OS X Snow Leopard installed on one partition with windows 7 on the other. The computer can come with pre-installed Adobe CS5, Aperture 3, iLife, iWork, MS Office 2011, and Parallels, or I can erase everything and re-install the OS from scratch. The computer comes with the original box, and software. Please email me if interested.

has a lot of software, is the same price and in perfect condition also. I already has win7 installed as well which I had planned on doing.....

I dont know what I want to do.

I've also found one more that has a 500gb 7200rpm hd that the man installed himself (he is a macintosh cert repairman) for $999 w/lots of software also and only 6 mo or less old.

Do we all think I should go for something based on the physical condition/price combo and then do whatever I want with software? I have friends who work for apple who I think can help me with software needs.

It's a good time to be a buyer. I would try to bargain with them a bit. Most of those folks are probably upgrading to the latest & greatest MBP. You should also consider that, as well...as buying new gets you a full warranty and when you resell you'll be like these guys - getting about 80-85% return on investment (ROI) if you sell in about a year. :)

IMO no deal. These, now discontinued, MBPs are going for not much more than that at retail, until stocks are gone of course. My friend just picked up the same 13" MBP you listed first for $970 CAD brand new with a full 1 yr Apple warranty. So a used one for $900 with only 6 months left is a bad deal.

Also, I noticed the second ad has Adobe CS5, Aperture, Office 2011 and iWork included. If you do go down that route, make sure you're getting legit copies of these as I know a lot of sellers (most likely this ad included) include illegal copies of the software, without ever mentioning that little tidbit, which makes them worthless IMO. I highly suspect someone is throwing in a $1000+ worth of legal software.

800 is the max price he can ask for a 6 moths old c2d mbp.

Id say 850 is a good deal. You save $100 or more even if you get a refurb with the $930+110 tax. You can't go off what people on this board say though because this board weeds out of the general population, people who keep up with the update, current pricing, and general information. Normal people do not do that. Before I joined a few computer forums, i didn't know about the different refreshes and updates and unless you do a ton of research, you wont know the subtle differences in the upgrades. People still have no clue the new macbook pros with the core i5's are out and MBP with c2d BRAND NEW are still going for around $1000-1300.

Many people on craigslist want to get what they paid or close to it and so the resale prices will be higher to some degree, at least compared to say, NBR marketplace.
