I love how my laptop screen darkens to save power if I haven't used it in a few minutes, but I hate when it happens when I've watching a DVD or video. Is there some way to tell my computer not to do it when I'm watching a DVD or video or do I have to just go into the system preferences and turn the feature off every time I want to watch something?

Hmm, it actually doesn't normally do that...
When using DVD Player or Quicktime automatically the screen shouldn't dim. Or at least, it doesn't dim on mine's.
Are you using a MacBook Pro? If so, it may be the ambient light sensor re-adjusting screen brightness. -
Uh, I'm not sure if I've noticed it happening using one of those problems. The big problem is when I'm watching a long-ish video online.

Well, if its a video within the browser such as a YouTube video, the Mac won't be able to interpret what shouldn't dim and what should. So it will automatically dim after a while, and as far as I know there isn't a way to change that.
But if you use Quicktime or DVD Player, then the Mac won't dim the screen. -
Okay, I guess I'll just have to jiggle the mouse every so often. Its not too bad, the videos aren't two hours, just usually between 15 and 30 minutes.

can you get the videos to play in an external player, if the website allows you to that would work.
