Sorry if this isnt the right forum.

If I buy music on iTunes, how do I tell whether it is DRM free or not before purchase? I just tried searching for some tunes and I couldnt tell if they were DRM free or not ?

DRM free tunes will be listed as iTunes Plus tracks. They are in their own section of the iTMS.

Well, next to the pricing (all iTunes tracks, including iTunes DRM-free (iTunes Plus), there will be a "+" sign to indicate it is iTunes Plus.

Just a note in case you didn't know, iTunes Plus tracks have been lowered to $.99 too.

So DRM free is now the same price as DRM? Why would anyone get DRM anymore? This was my biggest gripe with all online music companies.

Because not everything is available as a (legal) DRM-free download.

I think only EMI has released DRM free tracks on iTunes.

Yeah, its weird like that. Since the price drop, iTunes Plus tracks are the same price as DRMed iTunes tracks, so of course, get the DRM-free version :p.

And I didn't look much into this (so I don't know if the recent price drop has changed this), but iTunes Plus tracks are 256 kbps, compared to normal iTunes tracks with 128 kbps, so even better to get the equally priced iTunes Plus!

Correct. Universal has released DRM-free tracks on other music stores, but these DRM-free tracks from Universal are not available on iTunes currently (Universal and Apple have strained relations right now).
