Hey guys, well the other day i had to get my superdrive repaired because it wouldn't read my DVD's i wanted to watch! So i bring it to the genius bar, blah blah blah. One hour later i come to pick it up and the lady is "Let me ring you up" my mouth was just like hanging, so i go and she shows me the bill!!! $396, i mean good god! What in the name of hell. But glad thing, she told me i didn't have to pay because i have applecare, which i forgot mind you. So i was relieved.

I mean, cmon, for a superdrive hahaha :D

The Macbook Pro Unibody contains two! The 256mb one for "normal use", but if you select "high performance" you have to log out and log back in, and then the 512mb is used.

I think it's pretty neat myself, but Windows fanboys complain that you actually have to log out and log back in to change graphics cards

OH SNAP! $1300 for a logic board??!! Well then until that very depressing day.

Captain Fail: I didn't know that. It's pretty cool, because if one F's up well you have a spare.

side note: screw windows fan boys :D

I bet replacing the 4GB of DDR3 RAM in the MBP is like $500, when 4GB of DDR3 SO-DIMMs can be bought for $200.

It's not. If you look at the receipt, the drive is only $311. The other $85 is for putting it in the computer. ;)

That's still unfair IMO. There's no way a simple slot-loading DVD drive can or will cost $311... And $85 for labor is horrendous... Glad you got AppleCare! :p

Are they a generic drive? Maybe they are designed just for Apple.

I actually didn't have applecare, they replaced it by exception. So i was lucky as a (bad word)

Otherwise they sell for $199 of ifixit.com for a new one, so even off of that apple is making $111.

If it does happen again, god forbid, i will do it myself.

Actually i don't. I thought i did since they replaced the drive for free. But i called today too see if i did have in fact apple care. I didn't, they actually replaced it by exception which i am grateful :D

I need to call monday to see if i can plead them to let me get applecare. Even after two months off warranty. I'll tell them a emotional story or something LoL!

Even if they dont, you may have an extra year of warranty if you purchased using a CC (see my sig)

I was asking about 4GB sodimms, no 2x2GB.

It's funny how RAM can be "Apple Certified."
