Today I just signed up for an ADC account. I am planning to get my first Mac (the new MBP) after they verify my student status.
But then I just get this link from email but don't know if anything he said is valid.

It's meant as a joke. Don't worry.

As admlam says, this is sort of a joke.
Outside of that though, a lot of the stuff this guy says is BS or overly exaggerated.
Especially the goofy crap like "a file isn't recoverable"...... the idea that there is stuff you can do with DOS on Windows that you can't with OS X's unix command line is just one example of that. -
Well, he shares my experience with old macs. The MBP is the first mac i've ever enjoyed. I have an old G4 in my office that I can't stand using.
But yeah, OS X does crash, it's not perfect, as no OS is. Hell, I've managed to mangle a Unix machine bad enough to be unrecoverable.
Then again, my Mac seems to be having a few problems, I just don't have time to call up apple and have it sent in. not yet at least. -
yup OS X is light years ahead of OS 9, i really hate using OS 9...
btw, don't believe what apple said in their websites about "switching", they have very good marketing department, most of what is said is exageratted. such as the statement; "it just work" when u have a USB connection plug it in... bla bla bla... windows can do that too! but because they have waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY more hardware ecosystem, some of them tend to need you to install driver first to access its advance function. so in a sense; windows is superior in that department. -

I loved that video.. found it a while ago. And though it is a humorous commentary..Many of the things he said were true..for me anyways. My first experiences with a mac while switching made me feel like i was going insane. Boxing with the doc menu, Only making shortcuts from drag and drop "where did my files go!", Sudden lockups and programs just "disappearing and shutting down with out saving". "Tricking the Mac".. well i still do that with my G4. Like in photoshop it likes to change my cursor randomly from tool to precise etc..despite never having changed anything.. I have to use reverse psychology in the prefs to get it back to normal. I have lots of examples like that. It brings back memories though. Once I learned the alternate mental approach..things have been mostly smooth in OSX. By far, a more pleasant experience for an artistic mind

Heh, the single button mouse killed me.
Not knowing the OS structure also killed me. It definently behaves differently and takes getting used to.
I can't think of the last time I've used OS before X. I think the last version I used before X must have been whatever was around in 1990.
Funny though, the look & feel seems to have not really changed, unlike Windows. Pretty drastic change from 3.11 to 95, then 95 2000/XP. -
Its a joke -
Um actually that was made before OS X, it was suppose to be about OS 9 I believe. Its a very old video. I remember watching it years ago. One thing I know is because those "interrupt" keys and whatnot don't work in OS X, but they did in OS 9.
OS X is a complete rebuild of the Mac OS, it was security minded the most when they designed it because they were obvisually seeing a lot of issues with the windows market share so they made sure it was a priority.
Oh before I forget, I used to hate Macs, well not the system themselves but the OS, especially OS 8 that thing was an abomdination, it froze so much on me way back in my wee years. Because of it, thats how I became to hate them, but OS X really solved so much I started liking it. -
Actually, it's not even that OS X is a rebuild of the older Mac. OS X is more a rebuild of the NeXTStep OS, which Apple acquired in the 90's because they had become stuck in trying to create a modern OS. The only thing it really has in common with the classic Mac OS really would be that Apple ported some of the classic Mac OS APIs, etc. over, as well as some borrowed UI elements (i.e. a classic Mac OS style menu bar that is always at the top of the screen, which NeXTStep didn't have).

I would actually say it does work out of the box, everything I plugged in be it firewire or USB was identified immediately and placed on my desktop. I have yet to 'install' drivers on anything I have.
in my opinion anything that doesn't involve having to install drivers or fight with them is superior, so that would basically be me saying that Mac OS X is more superior than Windows.
windows does have a lot of legacy support, but honestly not that many people who are HOME users use things that are old, unlike businesses which like to keep something until it literally dies and isn't repairable anymore even if we have something that still works, we still buy newer things.
Apple is concerned with being on the bleeding edge of technology, and from time to time drop support for things on newer operating systems to ensure it stays fast and secure.
Crash different?
