I bought a Corsair Nova 60GB because it was quite cheap and i was thinking of getting a SSD for the MBP. So for me Corsair Nova was a good first step into the SSD world but it was full of hurt :(

The SSD refuses to work with my 2011 MBP but it works fine with my desktop. When i try to start the MBP the whole screen goes dark after the initial boot, I updated the firmware also but so far zich.

I had a look at the reviews for this drive at Newegg and there were a lot of negative reviews: dead-on-arrival or died after a short period of time, and bad write performance. I didn't see any reviews on a Mac system. In general, it's best to get a drive that specifically indicates that it will work on Macs (I didn't see such an indication at Newegg).

Can you exchange it for something else?

I would suggest you'll take it back to the store and get a OCZ Agility 3, which works perfect for me. In Germany, prices are higher than in the US, I paid 80 Euros here. The speed is awesome and no problems so far in the first week.

The main issue with that SSD is its Sandforce chipset. If you can return it, do so. Look instead at the Samsung 830, Crucial M4, or (if you can afford it) Intel 510.

Yeah the Corsair drives can be quite sketchy, I had one that loves to play hide and seek rendering it utterly useless. I returned it after 3 days for an Intel SSD and had no problems since.

The shop is in another district so not gonna go there again, am gonna try and get a replacement from Corsair and see if it work if it does not gonna put it to use on the desktop and try my hand in SSD assisted Boot among other things.
