    Lists! yay...

    RULES
#1. The apps must be cool
#2. The apps must be useless (it is a little hard to determine the difference between useful and useless sometimes... that's ok)
#3. Not really a rule, but I would prefer it to be free.

    I'll start.

iAlertU - An alarm for your Mac. Uses sudden motion sensor (SMS) device to detect movements.

LiquidMac - Mimics the behavior of liquid using the sudden motion sensor.

How about basically any fancy looking screensaver? :p

I mean, they're cool, but at the same time, they're kind of useless...I rarely leave my MacBook on enough for the screensaver to go on...if I'm away from my MacBook for a while I usually just close the lid and let it sleep. So to me, screensavers are cool but useless :p.

macsaber, throw your sms equiped laptop around like a lightsaber

megaman effect, easier for you to just find it and run it and then run any application to see what it does, and have your sound on.

I like the Fliqlo Clock Screensaver. It works on OS X and Windows. I use it on my Windows machine everyday. (Well, I think... I'm not sure. I rarely look at screensavers.)

Eh...the Finder probably gets more instances of use for me (measured in times accessed from scratch as opposed to time spent in it) than any other application in OSX :p I'm always heading back and forth to it to open more files and whatnot. It's not the best at what it does, but even with its limited functionality it's still quite useful :p

I'd have to say that the OSX Chess program is the one that's most useless for me :p

Chess is just a huge disappointment, always has been.

Even a simple 2D version would be 100x better than that ugly chess mess. It's so ugly I just won't even play it. It makes no sense.

    3D Weather Globe + Atlas.

    http://www.mackiev.com/3d_globe.html

It thought it'd be interesting, until I realized it's not really much of an atlas, as you can't make street by street directions from one destination to another. Plus, if you're away from the internet and without a wireless provider, updated "weather" pictures aren't useful.

Come to think of it, it's not useful at all...

    Here's one:

    Dashboard

Sure there are tons of widgets available and some of them are even useful, but Dashboard itself is hidden and easily forgotten. That makes it useless if you forget it even exists. Not to mention when you do remember it's there and decide to use it, it takes forever to load. I know there are ways to get widgets on the desktop, but it should be easy to that within Dashboard.

I actually found Dashboard so useless that I downloaded a program to disable it, since I would accidentally click on the dashboard icon in the dock, or hitting F12. No more dashboard, and I haven't missed it one bit.

Isn't this like a copy of Google Earth? I guess that's another "useless" one.

I wouldn't really know as I never used Google Earth, but Google Earth, from what I've read, at least let's you zoom into the cities and even features 3D models of the buildings.
