I am concidering cancelling my order with Dell to get a MacBook. Possibly tomorrow. But I am still concerned about the problems I have heard about them (RDS, Heat).

I was wondering if some MacBook owners could change my mind for me. Tell me all the good things about it. And if it did have a problem, tell me if it was fixed, and if it works fine. And if there is heat issues, how bad is it?

Basically, tell me anything to make me buy a MacBook.

You might not get that many answers. See, I am not exactly old here and I have seen that question or slight variations asked a lot of times.

Basically, most people do like their MBs. I certainly do like mine, it fits my expectations perfectly. Some people may be more vocal about it, some people may like Apple as a company (as in like a lot), just like some people (not many in this forum) may despise it. I myself happen to like Apple design most of the times, but I am conscious that they are a bussiness most like any other.

So I guess you'd better do some research even inside this forum and try to make an informed opinion of the Macbook, its strong and weak points (certainly there are some). That way, if you happen to buy it, it will because if fits your needs, not someone else that happen to be in love with Jobs (or conversely, it won't prevent you from buying it just because someone thinks Apple sucks). After all that, I can say I am very comfortable with my Macbook; I wish it was cheaper or had some more resources for the same price, especially more RAM. But I knew what I was getting and I am happy with it.
    My 2 cents.

there's actually no reason for not choosing the MB if you're considering it. Especially because your alternative is a DELL.

    1. design of the macbook is unbelievable. I was first afraid that it would be too heavy and pretty big for a 13 inch laptop, but it feels so solid that I immediately forgot my doubts.

    2. if you are doubting whether you will need windows, just install bootcamp and/or parallels and/or crossover. I installed all three of them and when I have to go to windows, I just use one of the above.

    3. I worked with mac before, and I like working on a mac because it's easier (quarkXpress, photoshop etc...) but it was my first own mac where I could change to my preferences. I was very surprised how intuitive the OS is. Installing a program is so easy: just drag and drop. Almost all programs are packed into 1 file. I even like to use the DEFAULT directory while I hate Windows' default Program Files directory to install programs.
