I used to use videora on windows, are there any alternatives to this for mac?

ive heard about handbrake, ffmpegx (something like that), but some people say that sometimes sounds doesnt work and that it lacks synchronization

Handbrake is best imo, and free (unlike QTPro). Has built-in presets for Iphone/Ipod Touch.

I use visualhub, works really well, but handbrake is a good free option.

I use popcorn, it's a great program. I just drag the video files and click convert. Excellent quality video and sound on my iPhone with the default preset. I think it's only for mac though.

there are many you can use, most use handbrake, there is also quicktime pro and if you already have toast for dvd burning you can also convert with that, they all do the job.

If you want the capability of merging, editing, and adding chapters to your mp4 files, and take advantage of this on your iPhone, then I'd suggest SimpleMovieX
