I read something about how the fans only spin at the default speed while in windows. Is this true? I don't want my GPU bursting into flames, lol. If so, can anyone recommend me an app to manually change the fan speed?

If you turn the computer on, you'll need to boot into OS X so that smcfancontrol can spin the fans up to 6000RPM. Than you can simply restart, hold option while restarting and boot from Windows. The fans will continue running at 6000.

If the computer is off and you boot into Windows first, than no the fans won't be spinning at 6000RPM.

It doesn't seem to work on my MBP.... Just to clarify, I wouldn't mind if my fans spin normally during normal use, but while playing games the fans automatically go faster in OS X, this isn't the same in windows?

Your fans should automatically spin faster when necessary in Windows.

You can manually control the fans from within Windows using Input Remapper. Download Input Remapper from the InsanelyMac X-Labs. The latest version should be at the top of that page in the stickies. After you install, reboot, then click the tray icon and select "Mac Book Settings". You will see the fan controls in the dialog box.

Just to confirm, your fans do spin faster in windows when you play games and the such.

My fans spin up whenever i play games, and they do spin down once the mbp has cooled down and im done playing.

Ok, that's what I needed to know, since I don't want my MBP overheating because the fans didn't turn up. Thanks!

Do they ever spin up. Get some intense gaming going on and those little fans can sound like a jet taking off. But whatever it takes to keep this very expensive notebook safe is all good. :)
