Is it possible to connect my MBP 13 to a TV or another monitor if I want to watch movies or something? Or is the apple cinema display my only option?

    Yes it's possible !
You will need an adapter... A mini display to what ever your TV can except. Eg dvi, vga or hdmi. The official apple ones are a bit pricey but there are lots of 3rd party ones that work just as well for much less.

It also depends if you have the original 2009 MBP 13 or updated 2010 model. The 2010 models can also output audio from the mini-display port so if you go to HDMI you just need a simple adapter cable. If you have a 2009 model and want HDMI output you will either need a separate cable for the audio or get a mini-display port to HDMI plus USB or optical audio cable adapter.
