    Hola,

    I have a brand new Macbook, and I would like to connect it to an external source, preferably to my CRT TV with component and composite inputs. I noticed there are Mac specific cables, including composite, component, and audio cables to connect to external sources. However, there is no identifiable way from me to connect the cables to my Macbook. Is there some sort of USB cable that will connect to the component and/or composite videos, or am I sold out of luck? Thanks in advance.

    Apple sells mini-dvi to dvi cables, for around 20$, then youd need to get a dvi to component adapter. Apple may sell a mini-dvi to component cable instore(via third paty), but its not listed on their site.
    If you dont want hd, then you can always get their adapter to composite although i think youll need that mini-dvi to dvi.

    So basically: mini-dvi -> dvi then dvi to composite/component.

    You also have to get a cable for the audio, probably a 3.5mm(1/8th inch) to rca cable (looks like headpone plug on one end and red and white on the other end)

    Unless someone knows if theres a straight mini-dvi to composite/component, i just didnt see one.

    I just re-read you post and realized you already new all that ^^;

    You'd connect the video cables to you mini dvi port, and the audio cables to you headphone/speaker port.

    The only thing is i just dont know if they make many adapters for mini dvi. So you might have to get an adapter to the full size dvi, which has lots of conversion adapters.

    Hope that helps.

    I'm not sure I understand the problem. Apple offers a Mini-DVI to Video Adapter which includes both Composite and S-Video. You will need a separate cable for audio.

    Yes, but I was wondering if they offered a component version, so I can get better video quality. I will try out the Mini DVI to DVI then purchase the DVI to Component. Thanks for the help.

    if there's a mini dvi to dvi and then dvi to hdmi, would that carry the audio as well?

    Looking at apples site, it looks like some of the hdmi cables are just video, and youd have to get audio using another cable.
    Also his tv might not have hdmi? So component could be the only way to go.
