Hello, I had a quick question about how to connect my Aluminum Macbook up to my 47" Vizio LCD HDTV. I am currently trying to go with Mini-DisplayPort > DVI and then go to DVI > HDMI from there. Would this work, with the exception of sound? I know that MD-port doesn't offer sound support, but if I added an audio cable, would this be good?

you should be fine, just get all the required accessories and use the audio cable to go from headphone jack to audio out on your tv.

Ok, sounds great! I plugged the HDMI Male into one of the four HDMI Females, but when I cycle between HDMI inputs, nothing appears on any of them. I tried playing a movie in iTunes to see if the movie would come up, but to no avail. Any ideas on what I could do? Thanks for your reply, SHAD0W REMORS3. :)

this might cause a problem for you because some hdmi sets don't handshake well with the mini-dp... i ran into a problem connecting to an lcd using the same set of adapters you're using, but it worked just fine under bootcamp connected to a panasonic plasma.

does your macbook see the vizio in displays (under system prefs)? that would be the place to start.

You may run into a problem playing iTunes protected movies since they have to verify HDCP (copy protection). The verification process may be getting thrown off from the two separate adapters, not sure. Either way you might as well pick up the adapter from monoprice. I have one on order as well as a Vizio LCD at home so I'll let you know how it works out for me.

Hmm, looks like these guys no more about these MiniDisplay ports because they're more familiar with Macs. But like fastrandstrongr said, there are sometimes issues when you're using display adapters.

I'm using the miniDP to HDMI from monoprice connected to my 23" samsung LCD and it works just fine. I haven't tried playing movies but im sure it would work. As for sound I just plug it in to the macbook and aux rca to Nakamichi SS5 sounds pretty good. Best bet $14.25 for toggle from monoprice. :D

Thanks for the replies guys! I got the DVI > HDMI adapter for free, so I was wondering if there was a way around paying for the MD Port > HDMI adapter. :p I'll try it later with a non-iTunes movie and see if that helps... ;)

That's great! Are you watching iTunes movies through it, or do you have a separate file?
