Just wanted to add my story here...

I purchased my MacBook 2.16 Ghz about 2 Julys ago for about $1650 total. Since then I have fallen in love with this notebook. It is still very speedy and does what I need it to do with hastiness and gusto.

However, during this computer's life span it has had 2 hard drive failures and 1 hyperpixel.

The first hard drive failure was a shock, as it happened about 3 months of owning the computer. I re-seated the Hitachi hard drive, but to no avail. Fortunately I purchased Apple Care and they sent me a box. Within 3 days I had my computer back with yet another 160 GB Hitachi hard drive.

My second failure occurred this year, though I was more prepared for it this time. I quickly called up Apple, got another replacement box and I was on my way. This time, however, I requested that if they had ANY other brand besides Hitachi, that they put that in place of my old HD. When I got my Mac back (after only 3 days!) it had a brand spanking new keyboard/trackpad/top cover in addition to a new Fujitsu hard drive.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Apple's customer service. If you are looking for a notebook with a warranty that WILL cover any failures, then an Apple will be the way to go.
