Tired of a 4 click shutdown to keep Lion from re-opening windows?
Power-Space-Enter is not much better (for new MBA users anyway).
And then there is Control,Option,Command,Eject for older machines with an eject key.

I tried to create an Automator App, and an applescript to perform a "clean shutdown" with a single mouse click, but could only get 90% success.

Then a Google search turned up this gem. I looked at the Applescript and saw where I went wrong. I pass it on in the hope that someone else will find it as useful as I have. I just copied the App into my applications folder, and then placed it on the dock by the usual means.

A single click shuts down the Lion Mac, and unchecks the backwards option box.

    CleanShutDown2.0

This will work until the pinheads that stuck us with a backwards default fix the problem.

p.s. Victor has some other pretty cool scripts.

One of Apple's dumber ideas. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but this shutdown just reminds me of sleep.

Why are you shutting down your laptop instead of simply sleeping it?

    Ah, makes sense.

If enough people report this to bugreport.apple.com, it'll hopefully get fixed.
