Any reason chess still looks like such poo?

I'd play chess, but it actually looks so crappy, I never do.

Any way to skin that thing or make it more normal?

OS X's chess does look inordinately ugly compared to most chess programs, but eh, it's chess I guess so it's not a huge deal. It'd be nice if it could look sleek like the Chessmaster games though.

A bigger problem is that it's quite SLOW. I don't know how good the AI is because it's so slow that I always gave up in disgust after 3 moves (i.e. I move, wait 30 min for computer to move, I move again, 25 minutes into 2nd wait I quit the app).

The voice recognition in Chess never seems to work for me. I have Speakable Items on usually, and it always picks up what I said, but it never seems to work in Chess.

    Its a conspiracy...

    Vista's games aren't bad - they're a good way to waste time.

OS X doesn't really have that much I can do to waste time with :(

No minesweeper or texas holdem or solitaire or hearts...it feels wrong to download them too

Incidentally, playing minesweeper using the Apple touchpad is a quite....*novel*....experience in itself..

I don't need it to look hot or sleek. Even plain would be fine, like what I got with xboard on my SuSE Linux.

I just installed Vista on my Boot Camp and that chess is acceptable.

Looks like I have Vista for OneNote and Chess... lolz...
