The Notebook Review forums were hosted by TechTarget, who shut down them down on January 31, 2022. This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Say if I write an essay in .doc format and want to switch to PDF, how do I do it on a mac? or vice versa

    Well, going from MS Word to PDF on Mac is pretty easy. When in Word just go to "File>Print". When the print dialog comes up it gives you the option of saving to PDF rather than printing it. This trick also works for any other application in OS X as well.
    But to do the reverse, I'm not sure there is a way. Maybe someone else knows of a handy dandy utility.
